Capacity Building
REalliance CIC is the delivery partner for WRAP's Third Sector Capacity Building Programme, launched by Secretary of State for the Environment, Hilary Benn, and WRAP Chief Executive, Liz Goodwin, on 4th June 2008.
We are currently investing in 40 environmental social enterprises and plan to support 80 more in 2009. The programme has three complementary strands of activity designed to increase the capacity of third sector organisations to deliver recycling, reuse, and waste prevention services:
- Enterprise Development
- Market Development
- Network Development
Within each strand, third sector organisations can access support tailored to their own needs and fitting their own development goals. The programme will pay for bespoke pieces of work that the organisation needs done to attract investment, grow, become more sustainable and win a bigger share of the resource management market.
The programme’s success will be measured using indicators counting the tonnes of waste diverted, tonnes of carbon saved, sector turnover and employment, training and volunteering opportunities created.
With limited funds we do not expect to be able to support every organisation that needs investment, but we hope that every organisation that approaches us will benefit and find appropriate participation opportunities. REalliance CIC and WRAP will work together to make best use of the funds available and will follow a clear and transparent process of decision making when allocating resources to individual organisations.
