National Wood Recycling Project
The National Community Wood Recycling Project (NCWRP) is launching a campaign to encourage entrepreneurs to set up more Wood Recycling projects, with the support of REalliance.
The funding, awarded in September 2008, has helped to develop the project’s business plan and provide support to existing projects. Richard Mehmed, the director of the NCWRP points out: “With the additional funding and support, we can be a lot more proactive in our marketing and start to increase the number of professional entrepreneurs starting up these projects.”
Since receiving the support the project has also developed closer ties with the building industry. Mehmed explains that more businesses are realising that using Wood Recycling Projects is both an environmental and cost effective way to deal with their wood waste.
Mehmed stated that this investment will assist the NCWRP towards the goal of becoming a fully sustainable organisation: “Our business plan will see us being self-supporting over the next few years but we are not at that stage now. The REalliance support has kept us going.”
There are currently 22 projects across the UK, though the organisation has set a target of 50 by 2010. With a further six months of funding the NCWRP believes this target is within reach.
